What is involved in installing a Superchip? How long does it take to get one when ordered? Does anyone have photos of the installation? Thanks in advance...

Aldive, were you able to locate your ECU yet? Installing the chip entails disconnecting the battery, then the wiring harness attached to the front of the ECU. Take the rubber weather seal off the front of the ECU, then slide the ECU out of the bay it sits in. You then pop off a small cover on the back of the ECU, and clean the grease off the circuit board electrical contacts that are there. Then you just slip the Superchip onto those contacts, and re-install the ECU back into the truck, reconnect the harness to it, and battery, and you're off! It took me less than 30 minutes for the install, which included the time it took to knock out one of the plastic braces in the back of the ECU bay, that was in the way once the chip was installed. Sorry, no pics of the install. I have the Superchips instruction sheet that has a few pics. I can try to scan and email it to you if you want. It took me about a week to get it from Smartyparts.

93&96EB, 91 octane or higher is recommended, but I have seen one member here that has run 89 with no problems. The chip changes the fuel curve, and is designed to run on higher octane.
