Do/Can I get my Superchip reprogrammed to work with my larger tires? Now I experience a pinging sound in the engine when under a torque load and using 1/2 throttle. I know it is not good for the engine to ping, and I am pretty sure it is caused by the superchip and my larger tire combination.

Thanks

Andy

I take it you are burning 91-93 octane fuel, as for the larger tires, I know Superchip can change shift points for larger tires but not sure tire size has any input on the engine side of the program. I did a very quick search in the modified forum and most people recommend contacting Superchip with any questions as they apparently have excellent customer service. Did you try cleaning the MAF and computer reset? Wish I could help more, if nothing else, it will bump it. :)

Maybe since the engine is now under more load the timing needs to be retarded a bit to prevent detonation.

However, I think it's a minor problem with the motor, and the larger tires just brought it out. I'd check your MAS like was suggested. Also check your intake manifold bolts and gasket: that may be the problem.

EDIT: it could also be a clogged fuel filter.

I'm pretty sure the speedo on your Explorer works via a cable. Which means you cannot have your chip programmed to fix it.
