Its all done folks .... pics to be posted by next weekend. 5.5 with the 3" BL and 35s .... kewl beans ... looks Great !!
Brian and Alb bunch, I looked for you all at the Chile run down here in LC but missed ya'll. Saw a couple of Lifted Explorers up in Alb a couple of weeks ago talked to the owners.. one over at SW 4x4 and the other at the tire place down the road (Mgr at Big O) ... both looked good.. but ya'll gotta see this one its hot!!
Yup sure did, we cleaned as we went and im really glad we did cause it really gave the overall look a real boost after it was all done. Would definitely suggest that it is worth the time if you care bout the look as well as the performance.
Im trying to find a group that was up here in Las Cruces for the chile run this year. They got some pics of us right when we were in between the b4 and the final after we put the suspension lift on but b4 we put the body lift on. We were up on the chile run and had slid off the trail way up on the side of a mountain. Lets just say we came as close to losing the truck as I ever want to come. It took 4 people standing in the wheel wells, a couple leaning in the windows to weight the truck down while they winched and pulled us back up on to the trail to keep us from rolling it all the way down a ravine.
If I can find these guys they got some pics of it all. Needless to say I was a little buzy at the time to get the pics lol.
I installed my 5.5 Superlift recently and am very happy with it. It was the cheapest price I have found in total i spent $1900 for wheels and the lift.
how did you set up your angle on your rearend/ driveshaft with the SOA brackets? My axle will rotate quite a bit, and it's allowing my driveshaft to slip out(I'm getting it lengthened anyway). Before i tighten down my Ubolts (and perhaps weld it up) I want to make sure my rear end is at the ideal angle.
Do you have ABS??? I'm wondering what to do about brake lines on my 94, since I plan on getting the 5.5" kit in January or so, but haven't heard of any extended ABS lines...
Another question so I don't start a new thread:
Would it be a problem if I got some F-150 spacers and kept my shackles I have now, so I can "keep" my 2" lift and just add the 5.5" kit, for a total of 7.5", or would that throw everything out of whack?
Fordlover...... you dont need to extend the driveshaft, the angle does not change much at all and the splines your shaft has is way more than is needed for the lift.
Capman...... nope dont have abs but you can get extended brake lines for around 130 bucks or do as i did and spend around 5 bucks and use 6 inch line extentions and a f/f adapter and u r good to go.
well sorry to bring back a old thread, i was just searching and found this thread,
i have a 93 explorer with 5.5 superlift, i have 33x12.50, pretty happy with the truck, i just ordered a 3 inch body lift, shackles, and 150 coil spacers, hoping to get around 10 inchs, and save some money for 35's.
That's a really nice looking truck ! You wouldn't need to install a dropped pitman arm as a result of the body lift. You might want to install one any way though since it is recommended with a 4" suspension lift and up. It would just help control your steering a little bit.
