I just ordered a Superlift 5.5 kit for my 92 Ford Explorer.
I have been reading alot of posts about problems with the Superlift 5.5 suspesion lift and alignments..alot of them. I have taken my truck off-road only 4 times and never had to align anything unless I mounted new tires. I'll be running 32's with new wheels—will I need an alignment ever time I go off-roading? What about city/highway driving? It seems (from the posts) that I have to constantly align my truck with this lift!

Any thoughts?

Before you install your kit, check the part number on the coil spring box or invoice slip. If it says 133, you should only have to align it twice, once after you install the lift and once after the springs settle. If you have the 118 part number, you may have to get frequent alignments. The difference his a higher spring rate in the 133's to accomadate the extra weight of the explorer's 4.0 liter engine since the original kit was designed off of an earlier and lighter ranger.

Thanks for the heads up!
I'll check when the kit comes in. How long does it take for the coils to settle? With normal driving? Off-roading?

I think you'll have problems with the drop bracket on the driver's side bending.

Mine is bent, Mac's was bent. It really isn't designed for hard-core off roading. It needs to be reinforced.

Mine is still bent as well. I am going to try and bend it back and then reinforce it by bringing a rod back to the replacement crossmember. If that doesn't work, a SOLID AXLE will.
