Agh... So this last Wednesday I get my new radius arm to install on the Explorer. I am happy because the weld thats holding my existing one together is slowly breaking apart. Well Saturday morning I get over to my parents driveway and get busy. I get everything out of there and go to put the new radius arm on and for some reason it does not freakin fit!!! ARG!!!! Anyways I go to look at the part numbers AFTER the fact. (DOH!) They are differn't numbers. The new one that I got is 04-1230 and the old broken one that is now in two peices on the driveway is 03-1130. So I call up superlift and I don't have those part numbers on me when I call just because they are still at the house. Well they wouldn't just send me a new arm. So now I try to call them up and their number is busy. What a pain in the butt. Hopefully they answer soon here I want my Explorer back. :)

Ryan,
The folks at Superlift were superb at handling my part replacements on my kit when they sent me the incorrect rear brake lines. They didn't even question where I had bought the kit and they shipped them 3 day express. Of course it's frustrating that they sent you the wrong parts in the first place, but I'm sure they'll make good on them. They probably won't even ask for the wrong parts to be returned to them.

Yeah I know... its just that this is the second thing I have broken so far and it should not have broken plus them sending the wrong things the first time. I will admit I didn't check the part numbers before I got started which is totaly my fault so I can take that blame. I think the guy mentioned that I would have to send the wrong part back to them. In the past they have been good its just not fun to have to not have a car. :)

Ryan,
Hey, who would think to double check the part number, can't blame yourself for that one....
I heard that Superlift has done some upgrading on their Radius arms, I guess they had problems in the past. If that's true then it's too bad they're not sending you both sides so they'll both be upgraded. I think mine are the newer, stronger ones, I hope.

Standing in line

Looking for new Superlift Radius arms too. :)

You want annoying? How about installing the front of your Brand new Superlift 5.5" kit, and taking apart the rear only to realize that Superlift sent you two Drivers side spring perches!!!! Yep, I'm the winner of this one. So meanwhile my poor truck is on blocks because some nitwit doesn't know the difference between right and left. Y'know everything looks right at the offroad store, but I guess anticipation clouded my judgement. ah well, such is life.

Well I got the new arm. Looks to be all right. Very very much more beefy then the broken one. :D Looks like I will have to cut the ears off the anti-sway bar brakets to get it to fit just right though. I am hoping this one will last longer. I can't wait till 4:00 comes around!!! :D

You don't have to cut them just spread them a little wider. A friend of mine had to do this last fall on his Ranger and it worked well that way.

Superlift tech support is Super!

I just got off the phone a little while ago with Superlift and they are going to send me the radius arms right away. They have them in stock and I should receive them in about 7 days. Very good customer service. No questions asked, just got my address and told me that they would send me a pair of new radius arms and that I do not need to send the old ones back. I am impressed!

Ryan,
It would be great if you could get Superlift to send you a new radius arm for the other side, then your rig would be completely retrofited, could save an eventual breakdown.
Also, I had a heck of a time trying to get my radius arms to fit with the sway bar ears in place, I cut them off.

Paul Gagnon,
I agree their customer service has been excellent, too bad they haven't improved their packaging product control. Seems like they mis-package alot of their orders.

Yeah they sent mine 3 day ground. Which was nice. I got it on last night and the worst thing happened! The bottom bolt that holds that eye on is somewhat stripped out. Its threaded just not correctly. So my dad had to help me get it in and right now its not totaly tight up against the axle but its as tight as we can get it. Somewhere around 250+ ft lbs of torque on it and it won't move anymore. So I was pretty bummed about that. This thing is getting to dang expensive to use as a daily driver. I need a car car. :)

hey I hear ya Ryan, and you made fun of my Saturn :). I now need to replace my tie rod, the fun never ends. Though at least its not as hard to replace as a radius arm. Glad to hear you got that somewhat working even though the bolt was getting stripped or whatever. So my list is now left tie rod, radius arm bushing, brake rotors, install the roof rack, and install all the extra lights. I'm getting down in the list of things I still need to do :).

:D Thats cause your not made to fit in it! LOL If you were of average size it wouldn't be so funny. Ah well I guess I will just have to get something and soon.

I'll sell you my Saturn... :)

I had a problem with this when I first got my lift. They had put the wrong (Bronco II) radius arms in the box labelled with the correct part number for my Explorer. No way in hell of getting themn on there. It took us about 30 minutes to figure out what was wrong and then over three weeks to get the correct ones because they had no stock.

Well I just talked with Avalanche Engineering. I asked them if they could weld up my boo-boo'ed radius arm bolt and they said sure no problem. They are extremly busy right now so I probably will have to wait till a bit later in the month to do it. I also talked about getting that solid front axle up there too. They said sure no problem! Now this seems like a good shop to me! Usually when I go to Off-road type stores they give me funny looks when I tell them I want to do anything to the Explorer. Heck this guy didn't even question me asking them if they could weld up the bolt real tight! I figured they would do the normal "Oh you really should replace your whole ttb drop down bracket for that" type of answer. I can't wait to go over there sometime to see what I can get done....
