surface rust on wheels

so i have stock chrome colored rims on my 2000 explorer, they have a little bit of surface rust starting to form on the edges, what is the best way to remove this, i was thinking some rubbing or polishing compound would do the trick, but i don't know

there is a product called Number 7 chrome and metal polish i will swear buy this stuff
u can get it at a local auto store!!! good stuff
