My 2005 4.6 xlt has always surged (bought it at 97K miles) with the cruise set on the interstate when going down hill to the extent that it felt like it was rocking back and forth, but with no codes, etc.
I recently changed the timing chains, (226K miles) tensioners and guides and this corrected the issue.
