This is on a 1997 Explorer AWD . 180,000 miles. I have a couple of items i would like to get thoughts on.

Issue #1
I get a ticking noise when i am moving forward or in reverse. When i pulled the front drive shaft it goes away. I am assuming that it is in the Transfer case. So thoughts on what i could be potentially looking at for cost if it is within the transfer case. Suggestions on companies that coudl make the repair?

Issue #2
When i am going down a smooth road i feel some vibrarion. Very similar to having nobby tires. I am running just Goodyear Wranglers. Now i looked at the front tires and my right front is more worn than the left front. I may be feeling the outside edge of the right front tire. I have driven the vehicle for years and been good to it without having todo many suspension repairs. Any thoughts? I am going to be looking at redoing all the ball joints shocks and whatever i can find.

1 - The transfer case is being driven from the transmission so pulling the front drive shaft only disconnected the front diff. Transfer case isn't your issue, look at the front drive shaft u joints, and cv joints. Also check your front axles.

2 - Rotate the tires front to back and see if the vibrations go away. If so, then tires are the culpit. Have the front alignment checked.
