Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum and have a weird question. Whenever I stop the vehicle, I notice that there is something shifting underneath the body of the truck. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the rear. It only happens at slow speeds when the vehicle "kicks back" after a stop. It sounds like a dull thud, and there is something slamming backwards. I've ruled out the spare tire, as it is secured properly. Any ideas? I have a 1998 Explorer Sport - no mods yet....

Thanks,

Joe

It may be the problem, but it does it even when there is a full tank of gas...

It sounds to me like your ball joints may be worn out. I've ridden in a couple Ex's with bad ones and it feels like you're describing. It also feels like the truck body is disconnected from the suspension.

Thanks alot for the input. I will definitely have that checked out.

I had the same issue with my 99 Explorer Sport. Have your slip Yoke differential lubed. That's what cured my problem. Good luck
