so this car i have only had a few weeks, 1991 navajo started making a really bad sounding shudder over every bump, it was coming from the passenger side. Well i just looked under there and then i looked under the front side and to my horror part of the "soup pan" (what they call it at the factory) also known as the upper suspension housing i think, had completly rusted through. If you don't know what i am talking about its right next to the coil and the shock, its just a bent piece of metal that holds the car to the suspension (I think) if anybody know the difficulty of repairing this or the costs involved i would greatly appriciate it.

P.S. sorry about putting this in several places

the FAQ didn't have any information about the upper suspension housing, any other ideas?

All you need to do is get new coil buckets. They are riveted to the frame, so you will need to drill those out. I'm not sure whether or not you can get oem coil buckets. Might be time for the james duff stage 2 2.5" lift. ;)

hmm, tell me about this lift, how much does it cost?

well i mean it cost about $50 per side for the part that i need to replace, do you really think that the extra $400 for the stage one wiill cover the problem and be worth it?

The $500 lift won't come with new buckets. You have to pay $1300 to get new buckets with dual shocks.

$220 for the buckets by themselves... thats about twice what the OEM ones cost, but dual shocks and i am sure its better quality, i think i am gonna go for it

Yeah, Duff 2.5 that costs $1300. Expensive things come in small packages.

Dual shocks will mean close to nothing, on a near stock vehicle, as compared to a single good shock. And I doubt they are better quality also. But if you feel like spending twice as much as needed on them, go for it.

Have you looked into "used" prices for the buckets? I could pull these off at my local p-n-p for probably $25.

btw: the FAQ comment was in regard to this comment, "P.S. sorry about putting this in several places"

hey Robb, you pissed all over my dreams ofhaving a heavily modified fully independent suspension, i was gonna pour a good deal of money into that, this will be cheaper and it won't be stock forever so when it isn't any more those dual shocks will come in handy, I am gonna make this rust bucket an offroad vehicle i have decided so the dual shock coil buckets first and then the stage 1 lift kit probably next month when i have some time off

P.S. I have never really been hardcore offroading although used to have a 2003 explorer that i took well beyond what its capabilities should be and i had a blast so this can be something i really don't have to worry about it will be great i think
