Swap 4WD to 2WD

SF should buy subway tokens...

Road rage incident waiting to happen... It appears that every response gets a slap from SF if it isn't in FRENCH! Insulter ces gens... pas en français? I don't think this the typical behavior of French speaking people... (SF) won't respond, you will only get a response in broken English. SF wouldn't respond like this to you... Fantome, etes-vous du Canada ou de France? canadienne ou française? SUBWAY TOKENS FANTOME, SUBWAY TOKENS...

No problem...

I'm not really clear on whats going on here, but it appears to be nearing stuff that violates forum rules.

Lets try and play nice. Please :)

It's just that after being called some tasteless names by SF, and the broken English, there's more to this than meets the eye. There are no foul words in my French... but her/his behavior is silly. I'm just suggesting that if there are problems operating the vehicle, maybe it's time to use alternate transportation, just another option. But I will remove the French or anything against the rules...

Well, noting specifically wrong, just heading in the wrong direction.

I can appreciate your point of view, can't really understand why anyone would want to convert 4wd to 2wd, but to each their own.

Sometimes I just have to unsubscribe and not post to a thread when people aren't understanding what I am saying. Its just not worth my time and effort.

Understood... thank you! Will focus on options, if not, then I will end my posting in this thread.

Why would someone want to convert from 4WD to 2WD? As in you want a VALID reason?

How about this:

The proceeding message is 100% truth. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I was given a 1991 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. It is 4WD. My project vehicle is a 1992 Ford Explorer XL. It is 2WD.

I am going to take the `91 4x4 frame, and modify it to 2WD.

I will then take the then modified (from 4WD to 2WD) frame, and install a Independant Rear Suspension from a Thunderbird. At the same time I will upgrade the drivetrain.

THEN I will take the body off the `92 frame, and put it on this `91 frame.

Remember, I am a 'Street' guy. 4x4 isn't the ONLY WAY to have a Truck or SUV.

I have a 4WD and a 2WD Explorer. I really like both. Both have their strong points, and their weak points.

If you were doing this project, it would make sense; and we would be asking you how you did that... and being as detailed as you are, it would be like reading a step by step How To manual. For example, in this area 4wd is not necessary, and if I had no reason for 4wd (which I don't at this moment), and i were able to perform the types of labor you describe, it would appear logical... However, hypothetically, if I, Donner, tell you off after you've been so kind, and call your fellow posters "s", you have to question the stability of such a person.

Additionally, there are also points that are far more logical than the one to embark on such a project:

In that climate, a trade should be no problem;
To sell the vehicle would likely net enough to buy a newer 2wd;
The nasty nature of some of SF's responses might suggest the motive for this transformation is not something that should be responded to;
Seeing that the poster's second language is English, one has to wonder why this question isn't posted on a board within that native community;

Yes, you are correct in that anyone for any reason should be able to alter their vehicle, but this one is highly questionable - from my perspective, I'm not certain this poster is being totally open regarding their intentions - as everyone has said, something doesn't feel right about the request.

I'll trade you my 2wd for your 4wd. lol. not sure youw ant it though.
