Has anyone ever swapped in an automatic climate control in place of the sliders in a 1st gen explorer? I've been wondering 'bout it for some time and i haven't found any info on it being done on a 1st gen. I drove a 2001 Crown Vic Lx Sport with EATC for three hours, LOVED IT! NOBODY complained about the temp or air speed! It was ssoooo nice! From that point I decided that had to have it! I know it consists of a pretty good bit of over my head wiring. Wouldn't an EATC system out of a '95 or '96 work best? Or is that just my thinking? Like i said, I have no idea. If there are some threads on it, point me to them Please! Thank you!

Wow, I've been wanting to do this for a month or so now. I've searched as you have and found nothing. It's doable just not sure if it's worth the time, effort, $$$, etc.

Not worth it. Unless you want to graft in a new firewall, dash, hvac and ECU.
Or, if your good at building robots for a hobby, you can use stepper motors and servos connected to a custom build ECU that monitors temp and user input. By the time you have that done you can buy a used 06 X.

But yeah, I don't like the sliders either.
