Swapping Out Ignition Cylinders?

I own a 2003 Ranger 4.0 4X4.

I am wanting to swap a tilt steering column for my not-tilt column. I think everything is pretty straightforward, except I'm a little unsure of the ignition cylinder.

I want to keep the same key to my truck after switching columns. Can I just switch-out ignition cylinders?

Is it pretty easy to swap-out cylinders?

You'll need the key for each lock. Simply turn the key in the ON direction until a punch can be pushed up through the access hole in the bottom of the column. It will release the lock cylinder.

what is a PATS unit? someone mentioned it on RPS, but i don't know what it is. do i need to switch it ou as well?
