Swapping the Transfer Case on an '02 Explorer

OK, long story short, the transfer case on my Explorer is bad. I found a good deal (at least I think) on one and had it shipped here; it arrived today. Tomorrow morning he is going to swap them out. My question is, any advice? Is there anything he needs to know before doing this? It looks simple enough- the new one is sitting on my kitchen floor...I just want to make sure there isn't anything he needs to know about before attempting this- I want my Explorer to run tomorrow!

make sure he indexes the front and rear driveshafts with a marker so he can clock them correctly when he reinstalls them.

use a new transfercase to tranny gasket.

i haven't had to do one so i don't know of any specific tricks.

02 Explorer and 07 ranger transfer cases

Does anyone know if a 07 ranger transfer case will fit a 02 Explorer.

Compare the model numbers - usually there is a sticker on the side of the transfer case. ANd sometimes there's also a metal tag on one of the bolts that holds the two case halves together.
