Well it is time to do the motor in my x because it is knocking and I don't think it will last much longer. I bought a wrecking yard motor out of a 99 Ranger and it only has 11,000 miles on it.

My questions are do I need anything other than an 8bolt flywheel to put this in my 91 sport? All I am using is the block and heads and the rest will be changed over using my current Intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, etc... Is there anything else I should consider before pulling my motor?

The computer systems are different. You'd have to upgrade to the OBD II computer system. If I were you I'd find an OBD I 4.0 OHV. The swap would be almost as bad as a late model 5.0 swap in terms of the electronics.

Sorry, I didn't read enough. If you're just using a few parts from the new motor you might be ok. However, there were changes in the OHV motors through the years. But if you're using both the block and heads from the new motor you should be ok.

Just investigate about the electronics.

Should work since my uncle swapped a 98 ranger 4.0 OHV into his 92 and it works fine,.....but uh what the hell does that juiced/charged x of your run in the 1/4?

mid 15's without nitrous. about .5-.8 sec faster with nitrous.

Wow that is cool. My Civic SI with I/E ran a 15.2 at the local track but 14's in an x is awesome.!

I put a 2000 4.0l OHV in a 91 without any problems. If you have a auto trans let me know. I have a flex plate for the 8 bolt crank.

Well my flywheel is on it's way from detroit and the motor is sitting at my parents house in there garage all pretty and ready to install :)
