SYNC 1 for an OEM Audio Upgrade - Will it fit?

I want to use a Ford first-gen SYNC touchscreen unit from a 2010 Ford Edge to replace the current radio in my 2005 Explorer Limited, because I don't really want to use aftermarket stuff. Will it fit and will it work? The part number is #AL1T-18K931-AD.

I think that's going to be a hard question to answer since it's so model specific and from different vehicles. In my opinion, you might be best off to call Crutchfield at (844) 225-2554 and tell them what you want to do. You may need a different wire harness or mounting for the unit, which they could supply. So they might have the definitive answer.

I called them and they said they only did aftermarket units and harnesses...
