SYNC not downloading directions...just screeches repeatedly

I summon the SYNC service just fine. When I get the location I would like to download to my vehicle--that's when the problems start. It just screeches repeatedly (it sounds like a busy tone). It doesn't seem to be downloading locally onto my vehicle. It did this once before, a few weeks ago, but nothing since...up until two days ago.

I tried deleting the phone and re-adding its Bluetooth profile.

I have an iPhone 4 and I have tried with and without 3G.

I appreciate any feedback.

It's trying to fax directions into your car. Make sure the MFT fax is on. LOLOL!!!!! Sorry too, I couldn't resist either!

I've tried both my wife's phone as well as my own. I also tried different phone volumes.

Have not experienced that yet! Lol. Sent from my home PC directions to x, it worked ok, it's a little slow on the download.

Try Master Reset or fuse 29 pull.

I have had the same experience, but get it to work on the 2nd attempt. You might try Sync tools and see if those features are working for you. Personally my house sits in an area with poor cell coverage, so you could also move the truck to differnt location as a simple test.

I suspect my issues is the phone and cell coverage and not an issue with sync. Once I got the feature to work, I love it, lets me avoid some of the hassles of our nav. system.

I've had that happen. What is going on is that Sync doesn't actually use your phones DATA connection (e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G), it uses a voice connection and a modem (e.g. a series of tones played over the voice line which are translated into data in the car - MUCH LIKE A FAX MACHINE).

Synch is supposed to mute this portion of the call, but it doesn't. I've had this same issue happen. If you let it continue until its finished, do the directions download fine? I cant remember when it happened to me whether it worked fine or not, but take JD's suggestion and just try it a second time.

I've had this issue as well. As I recall, the directions failed to download and I don't recall any prompt to try again but there may have been.

I haven't tried the master reset yet. I actually have let the screeching repeat for about 3 minutes. After which, it ends and goes back to the radio.

I sent a PM over to our Ford contact, so hopefully something pans out.

Same symptoms but different phones. Also, mine worked one day (Saturday) in various areas and then stopped working wherever I tried it the next day (Sunday). Hasn't worked since then.

While we wait for more information, do a Master Reset and then try to get directions again, please. Let me know what happens!

Several times. Not only do I get the screech but the majority of the time when I try to make a call I get "unable to complete call". However, I should note that I drive a 2011 F150 and not an Explorer. Using Droid X.
