Let me be the first in many,

Yes.

It is going to be darn near unaminous (sp? )

Welcome to the site.

Don't be a stranger !!

Thanks MONMIX...Hey we got the same Truck...nice machine! How do you like the K+N?

I like the K&N very much.

It really smothed things out and pepped it up a little bit.
better mpg too.

Not to mention never having buy a filter ever again.

Thanks for the kind words

Well im sure everyone will say sure, use synthetic!

Ive been told by a few Mech, one which is my brother, not to use the stuff cause I have high mileage. So im going with there advice.

Im near 100k and will not use it. I dont care what everyone says. :D

personally i wouldn't waste the money on the synthetic... i used to run synthetic in my 97' cobra for awhile then after doing some research the regular was just as good as using the synthetic. 1)use a good regular oil..(i like castrol) 2)synthetic was said to be able to have gains of like 1/2-1hp in your motor (now don't quote me on this but i pretty sure i read it somewhere... probably why i used it in the cobra) but our trucks aren't speed demons so i wouldn't waste the doe... 3)change your oil religously(spelling) every 3000 - 4000 miles.
this is just my personal opinion, however i have yet to have an engine go bad on me yet!!! and all of my babys pur like a kitten.
Even in my motorcycles i have shyed away from using synthetics.. there just not worth the extra chase... i used to use semi-synthetic in ninjas then i swithed to straight regular oil ///

XcaliburOO i use regular castrol gtx 10w-30 in both of my vechiles and never have any problems my 96xlt has over 110k and my 93 has 221k.

I too concur with the use of synthetic.

I would never use anything else in my cars., trucks and boats.

Good luck.....

I switched over to synthetic blends about 20k ago. After 3 oil changes I went to full synthetic. I go over the 3k changes so I try and buy good oil and filters. I used mobil last time, and am thinking about Amsoil since i don't change it like I should.

I'm taking the synthetic plunge in about a month (my next oil change). I use Mobil Drive Clean 5W-30 now.

It seems to me when I change it the synthetic it looks to be in better shape than the dino.

Definately go for the synthetic. I don't understand the point of not using it on a high mileage engine. I have over 100k miles on her and it doesn't use a drop. I work on jet engines for a living and we use synthetic for a reason.

I have 151k on mine. What are the advantages/benefits of using synthetic over regular oil?

I switched to synthetic when i bought mine about a year ago(130k). It used to have knock, but it went away after a couple of changes. I use mobile 1 (10w30) and Purilator "pur 1" filter. Yea, it cost a little more, but i think worth it.

Synthetics do not absorb nearly as many combustion by products that dino oil does. Additionally, when hot oil sits on top of a cylinder head, all sorts of hot corrosive gases cook out of it (hence the us of a PCV system) and synthetic oil sheds those byproducts more easily than dino.

Dino is definitely cheaper, but synthetic runs cleaner and is more stable. The way I see it, 4 dino changes at a 5 minute quickie change will run you 80-100 a year, and two changes of good synthetic will run you 50-60 a year if you DIY. I use Mobil 1 in all my vehicles.

I also say synthetic - I run it in everything.... since I am an AMSOIL dealer. I have a supercharged 302 in my X with 100k miles and it runs like the day i bought it brand new!!! Also had the engine apart and it also looks brand new and super clean. I love amsoil and my father and I use it in everything we own.... from the dozer, excavator, trucks, tractors, cars, bikes, wheelers, snowmobiles, to the lawn mower and boat. Its worth it in the beginning to pay a little extra for extra protection!!! plus you get the benefit of fewer oil changes....

I switched to synthetic in the motor on my last oil change a week ago. I have 170,000 miles and have had no issues so far.

Plus I have noticed a little better gas mileage. I usually get about 275-280 per tank. I filled up yesterday and I was at 295. So maybe I gained about 1 mpg.

Because of this and aldive's data I am thinking of converting to synthetic in the tranny and rear end.

Cool, Thanks for the info everyone...i guess synthetic would benefit a higher mileage vehicle, because its cleaner. I only have about 45k on mine. Ill try it out, it shouldn't hurt...
Where'd you get the Black Ford Emblem?
