I have a 07 XLT and 3rd row seats... and I was wondering what my options are for a "stealthy" system. My main concern is that I haul my dog around alot, and dont want her drooling all over my amps or ramming my subs. Sooo.. do you guys know of a good location other than the back of the 2nd row seats to mount a pair of amps? It seems that under the 2nd row seats is no good as then they dont go down. Also, are there kits to install subs into the back paneling such as the thunderforms? I didnt see any MTX ones for my year. But I suppose hiding the amps would be better than hiding the subs, as I can always remove them for a trip.

2nd question... where would a factory subwoofer be installed if I had bought one?

Thought I would give this a bump. Ive given it some more thought... back of the 2nd row is out.. because then the 3rd row guys are straring at my wiring. So where do people mount amps for ex's with 3rd row seats?

I had my amps installed under the rear seats but they are attached to the seat bottom and not mounted to the floor. They move with the seats when i flip them up. No wiring is visible if you run the wires correctly and it does not get in the way of the third row passengers. I posted a pic of my sub amp mounted here:

As far as the stock sub and enclosure go they are located inside the right rear quarter panel. Its an 8" sub with a very small amp. only a few inches long.

Ah, cool. Thats what Im looking for. I have two pretty large amps I need to get under there. I never thought of attaching them to the seat itself.

where would you put the sub then? im new to this and i want a sub for my 2005 explorer with 3rd row seating. the amps would go on the bottom of the seats but i would install the factory amp in the back panel?

Yeah, go to a salvage yard buy the stock enclosure and put it on the back panel, or just get a custom box to go in the tiny space we have behind the 3rd seat...
