if you are a 4x4, you cannot have over 2" because problems with the CV will arise....

if you are a 4x2, you can go up to 5" without problem

It says in 2 places on his post that his is 4 wheel drive. Sig and truck type.

i have 4 wheel drive, is there anything else i could do to lift the truck in the front besides the t bars

a body lift

unless you want to go all out and do a solid axle swap

i didnt think u coild body lift the front?, i wanna go prerunner with flares so i need about 2 more inches of lift in the front

body lift is for the whole truck... however there is a member here that did only body lift part of his truck

if you get jsut the front fenders it will look the baja style as the front flared fenders have a huge wheel opening for them

I got longer bolts and cranked my torsion bars all they way until the adjuster hit the top of the housing and would not go any further, I got approx 4-6" out of this, at first my cv's would bind going over hills but after a few months of settling it no longer does this ;)

are you actually gonna prerun or is it just for that cali lift style with the front way higher than the back? if its really prerun then just get front glass, itll give you i think 3 more inches of room to fit bigger tires but i wouldnt lift it anymore its kinda sketchy prerunning something that tall and topheavy.....

i'm not bro so im definetely taking it to pismo and jumpin it

so are you telling me that you cranked your torsion bars and got 4" of lift with cv shafts and your going to jump your truck? i'm sorry, but are you stupid? 1.) you way over exceeded the maximum TT for a 4x4, and 2.) explorers are definitely not made for jumping. your going to break alot of components up front if you try and jump that thing. remove your front axle and drive shaft so you dont tear those up, and then your TT will be alright.

Ahhhh if you were referring to me (1) = no I cranked my torsion bars and got a little more than 4 inches is what i'm telling you (2) = I don't jump my truck  i'm not a hill jumping hippy (no offense to you hill jumpers to each there own) I was referring to normal driving over hills and such which led to it settling a little bit which in turn led too the cv's not binding up while going over concrete hills, roads, etc. should have been clearer (3) = there's no such thing as exceeding max tt for me ;)

yeah i dont think you would have very much fun jumping your truck with 4" of torsion twist, kind of a stiff landing

whoops.. sorry. i read this at 2 AM last night and i didnt notice the diference between the user names.. woo... sorry. i thought cv's were only on 4x4's? you said theres no such thing as exceeding max tt for you, so i'm assuming your a 4x2. and.. i just woke up so i may be making some more idiotic statements/questions. i apologize.

No he's 4wd. He said the CV's were binding at 4" but stopped binding when they settled.

i thought that put to much strain on the joints because of the angle? so, won't they wear out prematurely?

Probably yes. That's why it's "recommended" to not go over 2" but it's not a big deal.

I have been tracking my mileage since lifting/putting that much strain on the cv's to see if & when they go kaput, the left side I changed before all this tt and the right side is still factory with 200,000 on the od, I have at least 6000 - 7000 with this much tt, i'll post once one finally goes ...
