t-case issue

i got my rebuilt tranny back in over the weekend but noticed t case to be leaking and noticed a small crack about 2 cm coming from the drain plug and it is leaking fluid anybody ever solder cracks in aluminum? or jb weld or something with all the money iv dumped in this i really dont want to now have to go out looking for a new one

JB weld might work but I would be afraid it would come off while you're driving and you would lose your fluid. Welding could probably work but that's pretty expensive I would think.

If you are going to epoxy the crack, clean is the name of the game for this repair, I've had good luck doing the following:

1. Drain transfer case
2. clean cracked area with brake cleaner or similar
3. groove the cracked area with a dremel or small grinder
4. Fill groove with JB weld or epoxy of choice
5. Let cure by manufacturers suggested time
6. refill and check for leak

Did that exact same thing after trying to get it welded and its holding up great !


Couldn't weld it unless I disassembled and got all the fluid out when the shop tried to strike an arc the weld turned to sugar
