I have foud many threads on T-cases but ihavent been able to find any direct info on what I am experiencing. okay....

I was towing some heavy trees in 4low and i was moving them with much effort. i dont remmeber any major bumps or grinds. a few day s later my wife and son and i went to the lake by the house (we call it the big hole) an i was goofing off in the mud. of course i got in too deep and i put it in 4auto when i started bogging much like i normally do. the speed was onyl at 20 or so but when i put it in 4x4 and gave it some gas it made grinding popping noises. it sounded like gears grinding. i was getting rear taction as i saw mud flying from both rear wheels but no movement up front. well i was stuck and had to go get the john deer front end loader to get us out. (son very happy - wife lets just say not) after i washed her down i pulled the front end apart thinking it was the front diffy. i pulled both cv joiints and axle shafts out of the dif. there was no sign of stripping or any problems (PS I had replaced a CV joint about a month ago withou problems.) i then had my wife put it in 4x4 stand on the brake and give it some gas. the front drive shaft didnt even try to spin. so im thinking that it is the t case obviously. now the tcase shifts into 4low like it does normaly. i can hear the gears engage and the rear becomes active. is it possible that the slip yoke or output shaft is broke or stripped? im not very knowedgeale about the actual tcase so help me. my haynes manual doesnt give me anything to go on.

thanks. sorry this is so long. that reminds me of a story my grandpa used to tell..... wait im doing it again.

sorry i must have been in the bottle when i posted that into "suspension..." i meant to post it in "under the hood."

anybody got any insight?

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE BREAKING THE BW1354 T CASE, YOU MAY BE THE FIRST.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE BROKEN THE CHAIN, OR STRIPPED A GEAR, IN ANY CASE IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE IT THEN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THEY ARE SO TOUGH AND DURABLE THAT MOST JUNK YARDS HAVE A SURPLUS OF THEM LAYING AROUND, I GOT ONE FROM A 93 EXPLODER FOR FREE, WELL ALMOST FREE I BOUGHT A D35 FRONT AXLE AND A 97 8.8 DISC BRAKE REAR, HE WANTED $1200 FOR BOTH WHICH I THOUGHT WAS HIGH SO I TOLD HIM HE HAD A DEAL IF HE THREW IN A BW 1354. HE DID AND NOW I HAVE A NEW T CASE.

GOOD LUCK! I'LL FOLLOW THIS STORY BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU DID....

I DONT KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT THE WORKINGS OF THE T CASE BUT YOU MAY HAVE SIMPLY STRIPPED THE FRONT OUTPUT SHAFT THAT THE DRIVESHAFT YOKE IS ATTACHED TO, GO TO WWW.THERANGERSTATION.COM TO LWEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR T CASE.....

GOOD LUCK, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR 50-150$

thanks man! are you sure that the tcase from the early model is the same as a 95? i need to look i guess.
i appreciatte it.
