T- Case Swap

:roll: I have a 92 XL w/ push button 4wd, I'm thinking of swapping w/ a manual T-case. The t-case is from a '87 Ranger, both have manual transmission, I was wondering if there is any mods I need to do to make the swap?

if you have the shifter+linkage, boots and front driveshaft( I think) you should be set... Anyone want to confirm that?

I have the whole Ranger minus the motor, got at a steal $50!

I saw it sitting in a pasture and asked about it, it's been down for a couple of months. He was tired of putting money in it!

make sure that it is a borg warner 1354 and not a borg warner 1350 or else they are not compatable and you will have to do some mods ( I know cause I almost ran into that problem)

what kind of mods were you facing on yours?

well drive shaft connectors on the bw1350 for both ends were different than the original bw1354 push button i had in my x. So i took it back to the junk yard and got a bw1354 (which i was supposed to get in the first place but due to the excitement i had at the time i didnt bother to check if it was the wrong one) so everything just bolted up to my manual tranny and the driveshafts fit perfectly. You will have to take the floor plate for both shifters and replace the one you have in your x now and you will have to cut the carpet a little. And my dad wired the manual shift tcase to the automatics harness so that the lights go on but i dont know how he did it. I pulled the whole tranny out when i swaped mine for a few reasons. to change the clutch and slave cylinder reface the flywheel and make it easier to pull the old t case off cause it is a pita.
