Can not get temparture turned down to cool when heat is on. I took it in for service and they think it may be a switch inside the dash board. According to them they would have to go through the glove box to get to that switch and it would be expensive and labor intensive. Anyone have any other suggestions? It's either hot air or no air - nothing in between.

It could be the blend door actuator/linkage. Seems like a common problem on Fords.

A buddy of mine works for firestone as a technician, and while I was there he had a 2 gen explorer in having that exact same problem. I didn't stick around to see the final diagnosis, but I will ask him if he figured it out next time I talk to him.
