I haven't personally but I have looked into the company. Consensus seems to be they're good bumpers, not the best quality since they're cheaper but still good. There do seem to be fitment issue with other ford vehicles and some modifying was needed on some. Timeline has also been mentioned in that it takes a while to get them. For the price and looks it seems like a fair deal as long as you know it might not be perfect and it might take a bit.

I'd talk with James at RLC Welding (site vendor), his bumpers and tire carriers for the Explorer look really good and have been tested on the trail by various members here that can vouch for his work.

I sent an email enquiry to the local rep. he's been giving me the hard cell all day... anyway.. I'll speak to James..

Wow, never heard of those TAG guys before but those look like some awesome bumpers. I'm gonna hafta keep them in mind when it comes time for mine...

There's a big difference in the design though. The RLC bumper mounts the winch on top, right in front of the grille. The TAG bumper encloses the winch lower and closer to the frame. If I wanted to sit down with James and completely go over every little aspect of the design, I know I could get something I really like. But with TAG, I can get the winch and front receiver bumper with a grill guard, rubber docks, shackle mounts, light guards, light bar, and lights built into the lower frame for $1,209 plus maybe three hundred or three fifty shipping. That also includes a switch kit for the lights. Not too bad of a price, and I get exactly what I want without needing to go over drawings and cad files and changing things halfway through if I don't like it. All I need to do is tell them year, make, model, and GVWR.

And for the rear bumper, I can get the swing out tire carrier, shackle mounts, mounts for two jerry cans, CB antenna mount and receiver hitch for $870. Also not a bad price. You could even throw in backup lights and taillights for a little more extra.

Hey, I'm not trying to cause a war or anything.. I was just asking for info/opinions... I've never heard of these guys. And to be honest, their bumper looks pretty squarish... I prefer the look of the RLC stuff... but, I'm sure RLC could do what I was looking for..

A war? Haha, I was just listing out some options and my opinion. James does good stuff, but competition never hurt anyone. And there's never really been an abundance of aftermarket stuff for Explorers anyways, so other options are great. Plus, there's still the fact of something that's completely custom to the exact inch that you want, and "well, this looks pretty good." It just depends on how much effort you want to put into it.

No, no war here. Was just pointing all that out in case anyone didn't know. I can understand why Obie wants to go with TAG, the hidden winch would be pretty appealing to me too if I were in the market for a winch bumper.

I think I'm actually changing my mind about them now Find. I've done some googling and have yet to find anything nice said about those bumpers that doesn't use the words "for the price." Lots and lots of toyoder guys that got nothing but bad service and extremely long lead times. I think I'll call up James sometime soon and see if he can replicate that enclosed winch with lights. And hell, I'm dumping so much money into this truck as it is, what's another two or three grand, haha...ha... ahh jeez.

In any case though, quality and good customer service is always, always worth more to me than a good price.
