Tailgate yellow retainer help

Hello all,

I have found very useful information the fourms. Like many others the 'infamous' yellow retainer had detached from my door handle. I was able to replace it following guides posted here. The problem is the retainer falls out every single time I pull the handle. I have adjust the amount of rod that the retainer receives with no luck. :roll: Any suggestions?

there's supposed to be a little clip that goes over the rod, isn't there? Thats how all those stupid clips I've dealt with have been.

Sounds like you need a new liftgate handle assembly.

This picture shows how the lift-lever is broken where the yellow pin plugs in.

Did you miss posts #2 and #3 ?

I replaced the liftgate handle assembely with an aftermarket one from Autozone. I'm starting to think that I might have been better off with a replacement from Ford. I've used WD-40 aggressive on all moving parts. However, once I pull on the handle to clips snaps of place as before.

I'm planning on stopping by a local mechanic on Friday. I'll update you guys with any new information.
