Its not a 4 Door X, but it dose have the same basic factory IRS & IFS. Just goes to show that our suspensions can be modified to be very capable off road. And run 35's;)

I hope that part makers see that ford is using the eplorer chassis and suspension for more of there vehicles and makes a few lift kits. nothin against rb lift but I want a 6 inch all suspeension lift or maybe even higher.
that is sick to see that could be a break through. maybe ford will make one like the svt raptor f150

IRS suspension has been proven on and off-road for many years. Just look at every high end sand buggy they all have IRS. Ivan Dans toyota was IRS, there was a honda ridgeline that won the stock class Baja 1000 a couple years ago. Just about every new SUV and some trucks are using IFS and IRS with struts instead of the traditional coil spring, which has to tell you something. Check out the rear suspension of this 2009 Tacoma that was at SEMA

louisville plant ? ky I live right by that place and never seen that

IMO, I wouldnt really call that an Explorer, or F150 or whatever its modelled after -- its a race truck. The rear axle center section almost looks like a QuickChange with inboard disc brakes. I personally dont really see enough (if any) stock suspension part.. its a wolf in a sheep's clothing.

That's because it is a Tacoma from SEMA, the Dave Turner Motorsports ST is basically a factory setup with coilovers.

LOL oh woops. Sorry!!

No real dezert truck is going to have "stock suspension", it will all be highly modified with better shocks and longer control arms. I was simply showing that IRS suspension works and has been proven for years. I also just thought the tacoma was badass (and yes its a one off setup). The main problem with our IRS is that it goes through the frame, so we can only lift it a couple inches and we cant get much travel out of the rear. Anyone with a fat wallet could easily turn a 3rd gen into a race truck, but why when you could build a 2nd gen or ranger for a fraction of the price.
