Hey everybody I drive a 93 explorer XLT and can’t find any information on how to take the door panels off. I’m installing new speakers and I just want to be careful and not break any plastics or anything of that sort. If anybody could give me a link to a video or even just let me know where the bolt locations are that would be awesome, I appreciate you all!! Happy Friday!

Yes! Thank you!!
cool glad it worked! cant figure out where the rest of the pages went however, i know my 2nd gen one is many more pages... now i feel the need to look for em somewhere 🤣

A little side note on door panels, guys.
I have 5 Explorers and a Ranger, door panels are a regular thing around here. When I started messing around I was always chasing down door panel clips. I didn't want to put a panel back on without all new clips. After a couple years I decided it was a good idea to keep a bunch in stock, like 100 of em. I ordered them by the box of 25 from Fastenal, better price than buying bags of two from O'Reilly's or NAPA. I have them on my Amazon list now, here's a pic of the part number. Auveco 12565

I fixed window motors today on my 94, glad I had some on hand.

Have you ever ran into a problem to where your interior door handle doesn’t work after you take the door panel off? I just replaced the door speakers and now I can’t open the door from the inside. Any ideas as to what could be happening? Thanks

Removed door panels many times, never had sucha thing occur.
The weakest part is the plastic couplers, but removing door panels should not have effected these. If it is possible you leaned on the actuation bar between internal handle & latch, when teh panel was removed, that could have broken a coupler. external handle could still function.
If resistance of internal handle-pull is perceived to be significantly weaker than before panel removal, a coupler has broken.

Also, I intentionally weaken the nylon retainers by rolling them under foot and slight shaving, to guarantee they are always weaker than the plastic in the increasingly-brittle-to-age door panels.

So, what do people use to fasten the water shield to the door when the factory adhesive no longer holds it in place?
Not wanting to glue the shield permanently in place, I used Scotch Removable Poster Tape (109S) on one door, but haven't had to take the water shield off, to know how easy it will actually come off.
I have another door and 2 liftgates to do.

I had to take both my door panels off. It's actually pretty easy. I have a 2000 explorer XLT so I don't know if it's totally different but all it was is removing two screws at the actual latch on the inside and then just the clips there's a bunch of pushing clips that you know some might break when you take the power off but they're easy to replace hope this helps

I never had that problem. But I've taken my door panels off many of times. I don't know the exact layout of the latches. But there's a lot of linkage involved and I know my driver side door lock doesn't work but I could care less about that. But I would just take a look at the linkage baby somehow got separated from that latch to the actual latch to close opens are closed the door.

This reminds me I need to pull my driver door panel to fix a rattling outside door handle. I know I have a mostly trail rig, but rattles bother me, and this one is loud and right next to me when driving.
