The engine temperature gauge will show that the engine is at operating temperature but it takes up to 20 minutes before heat starts coming out instead of cold air, but the heat is sufficient once it starts coming out.

I searched for 30 mins to see if others have had the same problem to no avail, if this has been discussed before can you just point me to the thread?

Thanks!
Robert

So, the engine is warm but the air coming out of the heater is cool? It blows plenty of air volume but the air is not hot? Only thing i can think of is a clogged heater core.

exactly, except it will start blowing really good hot air after about 15mins. If this sounds like a clogged heater core, how hard is that to fix on these things? Do I need a new heater core or can I flush the current?

Thanks!

I suggest backflushing your core.

I had a similar problem which I didn't end up doing anything about because it seemed to go away. My solution was to turn the temperature knob to cold and then back to hot and that seemed to get the heat to kick in.

Mine has been that way since the geniuses at Ford got a hold of my truck. My heat kicks in after about 10 - 15 minutes. I may change my thermostat to see if it helps.
