tell me about my 5.0 explorers

anyone know the hp and torque on a 1999 5.0 explorer. i drive one and so does my wife. i believe they have the 4r70w tranny. anyone know the gear codes? i would like to know what gears they have. both get bad mileage. 13-13.5 city and 15-15.5 hwy. thanks for your help. i am new here. i was a frequent on a forum for my 1999 f150 4x4 with the 5.4, but i am new to explorers. i sold my truck to buy a house.

You have 215hp and 288lb-ft of tq. Both of them should have a 3.73LS rear end. Our 00' 5.0 Mounty gets about 15-16mpg in the city and about 21mpg on the highway at around 75-85mph and my mom and I have lead foots, the 94' only gets about 15mpg in the city or so even with the engine mods I did before it was given to my sister. And your correct on the tranny.

I think the HP is 215 and the torque is 288 or so. You have 3.73 gears in it.

both of them get 15 on the highway? wow, i get 20-21mpg running 75-80 mph.

highest I've gotten was 16mpg (mixed hwy/city) and that was only the first fill-up after installing my Granatelli MAF. Since then, it's been 15 and less.

i get about 15-16 mixed, little over 19 highway, and about 13 in all city (with heavy foot)

I get around 19 on the highway @ 75ish and anywhere from 14-16 around town (depending on the mood...)

because its a 5.0. i have never seen a 5.0 X with anything other than 3:73's factory.
