'99 EB 4x4 "Herc" RIP
I got these 35" tires on and I can't wait any longer to try them out, so I plan to take a quicky trip up to Tellico this weekend for a day run Saturday. (Okay, maybe Sunday too :D )

I'll take the "easy" trails 4,6,8 and so on - nothing insane; I just want to get out and play awhile. If anyone wants to join, do a search for "Tellico" to read about the previous runs so you know what you are getting into.

I'll be glad to go with any 4wd. If you decide to join make sure you have all the items in the "Required" list at http://www.explorer4x4.com/trail_equip.html -- Tellico is extremely unforgiving and coming unprepared is asking for sure trouble. Be willing to accept a little body damage: I have never made a trip there yet without dinging up something or another.

Sorry, but NO 2wd's. Don't even ask. You are welcome to ride along though :)

If a stock 4x4 Explorer wants to try it, I'll try to get you up 4 and down 6. If you are stock with no lift at all, be aware that you will scrape and bang your skid plates a lot, and you will be hitting them hard.

If no stockers show and everyone is a little more capable, we will go the other way; up 6 and down 4. If you have a "superstock" class, going up 6 will be a thrill and an exhilirating accomplishment and one of the best trailruns you have ever been on.

I'm just testing the water to see who would be interested. I can iron out details in a day or two. I just gotta get out of here - it's been too long since I've wheeled  :bounce:

Do you think a 93 with 4 inch lift, and 32's with only limited slip be okay on 4 and 6?

Yep, as long as you're 4wd, bring it awn! You'll do fine on 4 and 6 but after we finish, you'll go home shopping for 33's and a locker :D Tellico is an addiction once you've been there.

If you want to hike a little, some of the major "Name" obstacles that you've heard of at Tellico are within walking distance of the trails we will be on and you can get a look at how insane most of the place really is :smoke:

PS: I just noticed that the GWNF run is this weekend, but since that is 460 miles away I don't think this will conflict with anyone interested in Tellico down here. :)

PPS: Any make is welcome, not just Explorers.

Cool, the hard work is paying off, I can't go till May, but I will be there in spring ready to go.:bounce: :bounce: Next weekend is too close for me to plan.

if only i had the lift on. if i finish it before the weekend (not likely but i'll hope) i'll go. that's about a 15% chance. if i don't reply.. i'm not going.

Ah Man, I can't make it. I'm headin out to Utah to hit the slopes the end of the week, maybe next time.

Have fun.

well gerald.. looks like freezing rain and snow is predicted for friday night here... i bet tellico will be "fun" in that weather! you should just scrap the idea and find someone to help install their lift.
really though.. i'll bet you'll get to test those 35s real good if the weather holds like they say..

Tellico snow run?

Heheh.... that oughtta be pretty!

If I don't check back in to the boards by next Monday night, someone call in Search and Rescue, LOL :D

Just make sure you don't have to use the Helicopter Pad!!!

I could always get the guy at the muffler shop in town to bring his J**p with 44" boggers to come at rescue you if need be Gerald!!!

We all know you'll be careful though.;)

Gerald,

Heads-up, if you haven't been up there (Tellico) in a while you may be in for a "little":D surprise near the end of Trail 4 on the Trail 1 side. There was a rather large hole with a rather large rock in it. I banged the hell out of my rock sliders on it going in and out. We did have a new J**P Rubicon get through it, but by the time we came back with the J**P the rock had been moved. He could get around it but I was too wide and had to go over it again. Oh, did I mention it is off-camber too!:p Coming out my inclinometer was on 32+ degrees:roll:, the good thing is that there is a big bank on the downhill side. So at least you won't go far. Of course this was back in November, I'm sure it has changed since then;) .

Have fun....TELLICO!!!

We were up there in December and that hole that Bionic Marsh is talking about is pretty big and muddy!! There is also a very deep set of rutts after the hole.

Maybe this will give you an idea!

Cool pics, that's the hole I was talking about!

That J**p was going through with 33's and open diffs. But, he also had the throttle down the whole time.

There is no way an explorer on anything less than 35's will make it through that hole at the begining of 4. That jeep with a small block in it and 33" swampers BARELY made it through. There is another hole b4 it that I put my truck on its side trying to get up.

6 is a breeze except for a few spots but an ex on 33's should be fine. Anyhting less be weary.

5 will be A LOT of fun in an Ex with anything less than 33's.

Remember, it is NASTY out there. Was very wet a few weeks ago when I was there.

I made it with 33"s. I was the one that dislodged that big rock from its resting place. I got hung on it with my diverside slider.

Hey Gerald, if your still going, bet the snow will add a whole nother aspect to it. Be careful man.

Yeah this is gonna be one wild run. I found some guys off the POR board to run with. It will get down to 15 this weekend in Greenville, so I be it will be in single digit temperatures up in the mtns of Tellico.

Now that I'm with a capable group and someone has a winch, Slickrock in the snow sounds like a real adventure :D :smoke:

Brrr....

I made it back.

It was 3 degrees Saturday morning and what a gorgeous snow run it ended up being! We had to stay on the lesser trails but I still got body damage. I guess that's turning into a personal Trellico tradition now. :( I banged in the passenger door a little while on Trail 4 but believe I can push it back out. And it's mostly on the graphics I have, so if I buy another graphics set to lay over it I may have come off lucky.

And I have new wallpaper for my computer now :)

Fain's Ford

The ledge was buried in snow over solid ice. The obstacle was initially impossible. Here's a photo of the approach to the ledge. I enjoy it because of the smoky effect. A snowflake had fallen on the lens and this is the result.
