Temp. Gauge not working

This morning my outside temp. gauge desided to quit working or showing up on the display panel on my 2007 Explorer Sport Trac. Any suggestions on what to look for to fix??

Just a suggestion, for the outside temperature gauge to work one day and not the next morning, I would suspect some creature may have chewed through a wire going to the outside sensor. Inspect the wire harness for damage from the firewall up toward the left headlight. I believe that the sensor is in the area of the fender behind the battery where it would get the least heat from the engine.
