Hey, my engine temp. gauge isn't registering. i replaced the sending unit, didn't help ... any suggestions? I don't believe that it is the gauge itself. If a wire needs replacing, do you have to buy the whole harness or what? Thanks!

Maybe thermastat, my 86 cougar did not register at all and it was less time to replace the tstat then replacing the sending unit.

I can't imagine a thermostat being so bad that temp would never get to range. I would check all the wiring, and if that is good, time to pull the dash. Check the two posts on the gauge, one should be hot, and the other (connected to sending unit) should vary ground. From there, it should be easy to determine problem.

Did you check the function of the new sender? You might have received a faulty one.

Good luck.....

I second the temp sender. I bought a dead one and replaced--all is well.
