Temperature Gauge Not Working At All! Help!

Hello, I have a 1995 Explorer. The temperature gauge recently stopped working all together and the "check gauge" light remains lit at all times. Today I replaced the sensor to no avail. Could the thermostat itself be bad? I replaced the thermostat a little over a year ago so I'm scratching my head as to why this happened. Is it true that not having the proper coolant/water mixture could cause this as well?

why do you have 2 threads on this?
go to auto zone and have the code pulled. that will tell much more.

yeah replace your thermostat. I had to and i just replaced mine 7 months ago. After that i stopped throwing codes all the time. And now the truck heats up properly.
