Texans to The Slabs Jan 27th,28th...Now with Link of writeup from 4wheelparts

The 27th looks more okay for more people, so lets change our stone to then. How about it Brian?, does that work okay for you too. Looks like our group will likely be me, Kris, Gerald, Brian, Rod, and Keith. That is a good start but I would love to see a few more, I know we have way more than 6 texans.

Hey guys, just got back to Austin. I'd be up for a run soon, as soon as all my work is done. I have to go to the dealer tomorrow b/c the dealer in Houston fudged something up and it needs to get fixed. My blower should be in by early next week, but I don't know b/c I have to have this other work done first. I'm busy both Sat 20 and 27, but I can meet you up there Sunday maybe? Or maybe we can just meet at Rod's house Sunday after the run so I can show off

I am up for the 27th. How long does it take to get there from Arlington so I can plan ahead a little bit. If someone could e-mail me directions or piont me to a web site where I can get them I would appreciate it. But I am definatly up for a run with you guys. I can bring my digital camera.

I'm still okay with the 27th. We can probably find the Super Bowl on the radio for those that feel like they can't miss it.

As a side not to those going/thinking of going, make sure you have tow hooks front AND rear. This was a bit of a problem last time. There is other trail equipment that is important to have that is in a write up that Gerald did ( I would post the link, but don't know it), I'm sure he will put up the link on here.

Hooks make the inevitable stucks much easier and less stressful to deal with and leave more time for fun. Okay, enough of that... Lets go wheelin!

I have the new strap and tow hook for the rear in the mail. But I was going to ask if any one could please bring along an extra CB. Cause I still have not got one of those yet. I know Keith and Rod have a few Extra now...

I got a hook for the rear like Geralds... Thanks for that Idea Gerald!

Wake up and check e-mail and read Gerald's essay then come to school and it's gone! I thought it was a good one.

I ordered 2 CB's one is in my Dad's truck and the other will be going in my new truck but if you have the wires and antenna ready I'll bring it. If you go to Radio Shack or Wal-Mart you can buy one for around 30 bucks. Then Firesticks are like 10 or 15 I believe. Not expensive stuff.

Just because I'm right was no need to yell at everyone about it. I do hope we'll be a little better prepared this time around. I'm going to be pretty disappointed if I take the trouble to make another 500 mile trip and not be able to spend much time wheeling.

I guess I missed the attitude post! Darn! OKay well the 27th is what I am planning for. Who will be showing up Friday night? We are going to do what we did last time right? I mean, meet up at Rods on Sat. morning and go from there. I will probably show up Friday night again and go out for alot quieter of a time than last time I went there. That way Rod wont hate me again (hangover on 6th street) Looking forward to it. Let me know whom plans on showing up Friday night for dinner and frosty adult beverages.. Cant wait.

El Arroyo it is my friend. No a bad little place if you like mexican food. I cant wait. I may bring two women (one for each night) Just kidding, but that was pretty funny. I think a couple of buddies are coming with me, that way I have someone to help when a stuck happens. Gerald, what did you use to drill through your frame for your rear hook. I will do a search real quick to try and find that answer. Who;s going to dinner with us Friday night?

I'm going to have to show up on Saturday morning. It is too much trouble to find places to stay that will also let me bring my dog. Plus, the drive from SA is not really that hard to do in the morning.

This is going to be the break in run for the truck, so hopefully everything will happen beautifully.

Micheal! I am sure you will do just fine. I now have my tow hooks (front and back ordered) installed on my exploder. I also have my surco rack coming with light tabs, so hopefully I will have time to hook up the lights. Installed fire extinguisher and got my full size spare (35") I think that all I will need help w/ maybe is the sand that was going up to where we camped. I dont see a problem w/ the creek crossings or anywhere on the rocks. Get my truck to camp guys and I will be set. If I have to many troubles once we get it to camp I will just leave it there and play on the rocks that Gerald and Kieth played on last time. Looking forward to the run.

Well i am sitting here w/ a full brace on my bad ankle. I decided that I was going to be 16 again and play some b-ball and it didnt work out so well. I screwed my ankle up bad. i cant even walk on it. i must be getting old. Sorry to hear about your arm. I am so stubburn I wont go to a doctor ever. I figure a shot or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 will make everything all better. It did last night but then woke up to the same pain..,
