00 XLT
Just wanted to thank everyone here on this site for all of this good info. I'm a certified backyard mechanic and have gained a wealth of tips and tricks here. I bought an 00 xlt and have lived on this site every since. Any problem I've had so far I was able to find a tip or trick to fix it. So I had to stop lurking and tell all of people who has posted their problems and fixes, Thanks. . .

Great to hear that the site has been useful for you:chug:

Its a 00 xlt, 2WD with the OHC in it. with 90,000 miles

I have a 93 explorer and was tired of fixing it. It had about 360,000 miles on it. Its still ticking just need some front end repairs, mostly steering parts.

So far I fixed the IAC howl- first by cleaning it then just replacing it.
The morning/cold start diesel sounds by changing the oil grade to 5w-20 and using a motorcraft oil filter. Still have the box of marbles sound!!, but its not a loud as it used to be. I have the OHC and everyone says it is mostly on the SOHC so I'm not sure if it the timing chain issue. Did the radio fix, when I first got the vehicle the only way to control the radio was from the rear seat controls. I took it apart and cleaned all the contacts and it started working. Replaced all my ball joints, after reading all the tips and tricks it was a breeze.
Right now I'm searching for a fog light repair, they work but, I can't turn them off or on with the fog light switch/button. I beleive its a short some where. The light in the switch stays on whenever i pushed off or on. The lights come on when I turn the head lights on. I also performed a tune up and for the first time used OEM parts.
