The Ford order/build/deliver timeline.

Hope you have better luck than we've had. Ordered
End of march , built June 8 .eta June 18. ...
Its still sitting in Chicago waiting shipment.July 1

Now I'm thinking I will not see it until the mid to end of July. I don't know why they bother putting ETA dates in knowing it gives false hope.

Now I'm thinking I will not see it until the mid to end of July. I don't know why they bother putting ETA dates in knowing it gives false hope.

In the end, it is an estimated date and assuming all goes as planned. It seems like not much has gone as planned with the Explorer roll out. I'd love to be able to see what is going on behind the scenes on this one. By the time the Platinum hits dealers, the model year will be more then half done. That makes me wonder if they will split off the Platinum somehow, or will it just have a short run for 2016?

I ordered a Platinum on 7/15. My dealer advised to call back in 2-3 weeks to see if we have a VIN. He told me it "should" take 6-8 weeks but there are too many variables to give an accurate estimate. He even told of one customer who recently had their brand-new vehicle on a transport, out for delivery and gave the customer a delivery date. The transport driver had a personal emergency. By the time a new driver was lined up, it was a week later for delivery. I'm actually pretty amazed auto manufacturers can even keep up with all of the logistics that go into building and delivering, these days. There are so many things that can delay delivery.

I'll be really surprised if you see it anywhere close to 6-8 weeks. There is at least 1 member here that ordered last December. The pipeline must be pretty full by now.

Yeah,

I was told it could be as long as 10 months. The good thing is I'm in no hurry. My 09 Edge gets around just fine.

I ordered my Sport back on May 06th, it was built July 30th and I am expecting delivery between Aug 14 - 19. In all it will have taken 14 - 15 weeks if it is delivered between those dates but it will be well worth the wait. I am now just counting down the days!

August 10: ETA Build date is August 22, 2015

Could be wrong but I didn't think the factory was running production on weekends. Maybe they are running 6 days a week (M-Sat)??

Blwnsmoke, forgot to add, they said it could be plus 2 weeks.

Ordered 2016 limited on August 12, got VIN August 20 and has a schedule build date the week of September 14.

My order for my 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum was placed on Saturday August 15 and Ford has received the order from the dealer. Now its just a matter of waiting for the vin # so later I can check the Window Sticker.

It is difficult to say based on the info above. I'd guess perhaps by mid October. The 'Window Sticker' is usually available online 3 - 4 days before the 'Build Date'. When you pull up the sticker, it will display the build date near the lower right of it. I would then allow at least 2 weeks for delivery.

Hi All,
I was pleasantly surprised with the timeframe for my 2016 Limited 4WD. I ordered from the dealer in Alberta, Canada, on July 15, got the vin almost immediately, and received the window sticker the first week of August, with a build date of the 15th. I had the keys in my hand on September 1st :)

I found the FordService staff on this site, Mathieu and Todd to be excellent (MUCH more helpful than my dealer). Mathieu in particular was great as he is the Canadian rep and kept me up to date on my truck's status.

When I ordered, my dealer told me it would be 6-8 weeks, but truthfully I was expecting 8-10. Overall, a good experience, and I'm loving my new car! Getting lots of compliments on it too!

Jacquie

Congrats. Was the initial ETA date they gave you remain the same through the process or did it come in sooner or later than the original given ETA date? Thanks

The initial eta was mid September, then September 11th, 4th and then 1st. Maybe the convoy driver lucked out and didn't face a lot of traffic?! I'm not sure if this is the typical experience, but it was exciting to see the delivery date move forward.

I just ordered my wife a 2016 Explorer Limited:
-White
-Optional Rims
-Captains chairs & console
-Adaptive cruise
-301A package

Hope to see it sooner than later. I have never ordered a new car before.

Will update my timeline as I receive info. I'm doubt my dealership will be very active at keeping me up to date.
