The OFFICIAL H2/H3 hatred/loving whining/praising thread...

what gm needs to do is pretty much shrink the body of the real hummer

Thats basically what they did.

put lesser quality stuff but still like the best

You can't have lesser quality materials but still "like the best" if you want a high quality vehicle, you have to pay for it. I've sat in the H2 though, and its typical GM cheap plastic inside anyways.

and cheaper interior and id buy the H4 off of them

I assume you mean the H2. Why would they want a cheaper interior? Its supposed to be an upscale vehicle, except with a rugged side that something like an Escalade doesn't have. The H1 costs upwards of $80,000 and I hear nobody slam it for being too expensive. Again, it seems to me like they sell plenty like they are, why would they change them so that it fits the bill of what the minority wants?

I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just trying to make you understand that there is a craft and a business behind these vehicles, and you certainly can't say that GM did anything wrong, or that they made the vehicle improperly, because they sell like nobody's business. The H1 and the H2 are marketed as "serious offroading machines with a unique style and class", I think both of these vehicles, as well as the new H3, fit that bill. They are very competent offroad, and they have a unique type of class and style for someone who doesn't want a Navigator, Escalade or Lexus GX or LX. I think the vehicle is one of the best marketing moves I've seen in the industry in quite some time. Its purely giving the customer what they want, and not what they don't.

If people will buy it, they'll make it. If people will buy it, and you don't make it, someone else will and they'll buy it from them. Thats business.

As of this week, there are 11 new H2's at my school, all black or yellow lol:confused: , starting to make our parking lot look a little weird with all black or yellow H2's everywhere. . I don't think their that bad, not the best vehicle for the city though, their still capable off road, not like an H1 though.

One kid I know just had a set of the new KMC offroad wheels installed with beefy tires, actually looks pretty nice and aggresive now, also has a Flowmaster exhaust with dumps. Gas mileage is horrible though, he gets maybe 7-8mpg now. But theirs some kid at my college who has a black one on Lexani's (I think their 24's) and I want to puke everytime I see it because it looks so ugly like that, and not to mention Lexani makes the ugliest and nastiest rims period, I just don't get why you would want to slam 20's or bigger on an H2 unless you wanna be a bling blinger.

Offroad rims and tires on H2's = Dead Link Removed
bling blinger rims lowered on H2's = Dead Link Removed Dead Link Removed

The new Trucking mag has some decent H2's in it for offroad, but then I saw a bunch in their on bling bling rims and wanted to hurl.

The only thing thats annoying now, I see basically as many H2's driving around as Explorers, and pretty much their all women that I see driving them like their sports cars, one lady today was cutting everyone off and swerving through traffic like she was in a Porsche:mad: She rode my ass untill I slammed my brakes and caused her to dart to the left lane almost nailing the Tahoe next to her, and lo and behold, she's on the cell phone talking up a storm drifting in and out of her lane:mad: stupid b!tch.

i only like the Hummer H1, the H2's are ugly too!

Nothing can beat the H1.

Just a note, we lifted a H2 today with a 6" lift, and put on 40" tires. It did look pretty neat, but he spent a LOT of money. Each tire he bought was $950 bucks!!

Some people have too much money.

No such thing as too much money...

And nothing can beat the H1, until you want to drivge offroad somewhere that isn't a desert, with you know, trees and things to go between ;)

Thank god someone else said it... I've been saying that for years... Actually Matt Adams and Perry Schwab were running one of the harder trails here in CO a couple of summers ago, they passed one H1 that was broke down already and I believe another one that couldn't make the obstical... Yet Perry and Matt made it all the way to french creek... Matt was even crazy enough to cross it...

I have one of those rich neighbors. He's in the body shop business. He has numerous of rediculously expensive cars. Ferari, he had the brand new viper, the ford thunderbird, laborguini (however you spell it),.... you name it, he's had it. And i dont mean seperately- he's had any 3 of those cars at ONE time. His wife drives a nice jaguar S-type on 20's. Well he has a H2... sickest lift ive seen on ANY vehicle around here. I believe he's running 42 inch tires on it... maybe bigger. I got to admit its sick- but i agree with Heath- and ive been saying that for a while too. All my friends love this guys truck but even with how my X is now, i can outperform him on any off-roading trail around here. Not to mentions once i do my 2" BL and get some 32's ill be even better. But if i ever hit up a desert- i want that hummer!

Ah...the truth finally told aloud about Hummers....My friend and I had lengthy conversations about that when the H1 came out a long time ago....It is just too wide. He ended buying a Jeep, and I bought an Explorer, both which are narrow enough for B.C. trails....:D

I've always thought the H1 was about the dumbest thing anyone could drive.

1. It has no place on most civilian offroad trails, if you don't have a desert to blast around in, then thats one thing, but half the trails I've seen pictures of you all running on here, forget about the H1, its just too wide and long.

2. It can't be parked. The H1 is too wide to fit in most parking spaces, so when driving one out to dinner, or to a hotel, you either have to make arrangements to have someone physically store it, or find two parking spaces open to park in. I was in Myrtle Beach a few years ago staying at a hotel that had a little underground parking area for the hotel vehicles, two limos, two econoline vans, the owner's car etc. Some guy had a H1 and he had to get the hotel staff to stash it under there because it wouldnt fit anywhere else. What a pain in the ass! Why would someone want to deal with that?

3. They are about the most uncomfortable things on earth. Here you've spent $80,000 on something that has no use whatsoever except look, and there are few other image vehicles on the road that are that way.

In most ways, the H2 is better than the H1. I bet on most offroad trails the H2 would get farther, you can park it, its comfortable to drive around in. Its a much better vehicle for someone who isn't a Marine.

Skier, This guy down the road from me is really funny. He and his wife are about 45 or so, I have no idea how they make their living. They had his and her's Excursions that they traded in on the H2s. They have no kids and no pets by the way, and they must work at home because one H2 is always there, they just alternate which one they drive. They have a nice driveway and a two car garage (we have a three, their house is smaller than ours) but they park on the lawn in perfectly situated "poses" just because they can.

People around here are really funny.

When it first came out (the H1) my freind and I laughed how all the commercials showed it driving throgh mud and water, on trails that were wider than some two lane public roads:D

Probably the best thing the Hummer has is the CTIS(Central Tire Inflation System)

citreon has that too in fact the car can jack it self up but i wouldnt buy one of those either

Land Rovers have that raising feature too, I started on etime and thought" What the heck is happening"?, then realised it was lifting up to max. ride height.

My Lexus actually does that too, you select normal or high. On high the thing looks like some sort of joke. Never found the usefulness on a car like the Lexus. I suppose it mskes it easier leaving some parking lots, grass parking lots, parking lot curbs. I've never used or needed it.

My wife's '86 Mitsubishi Galant also had it. Lowered itself @ speeds over 60 mph, had a high setting and even an extrahigh, which was ideal for washing the vehicles wheel-wells and underbody.

Stephen is absolutely right about what he said of manufacturers and making money. My company is a Tier2 automotive supplier and I'm happy about every model where the consumer actually pays for the vehicle and not the supplier ;) They keep up the numbers so volumes are still interesting, but the margin :(

H2 is actually pretty neat

My father in law just bought one yesterday. Neat truck. I suspect the vast majority of the people complaining about the H2 have never driven one, nor have they driven an H1. I would never consider an H1 (I would buy a Pinzgauer over an H1).

Makes my wife's Explorer and my Ranger look/feel/drive tiny. My wife really liked it, so it's made the lift/33's/gears/lockers argument for our trucks a lot simpler (31's and LSD's right now).

It's not as huge as it looks when you drive it, and it's got MUCH better visibility than I would have expected. Great turning radius, the air suspension lifts it A LOT, overall quite easy to drive. Lots of wheel travel (for a stocker), looked very well put together, like I said, neat truck.

This truck will get driven extensively on dirt roads, some on completely unmaintained dirt roads, and a little on plain old dirt. It's going to get scratched on the sides and bottom, and looks up to the task. It won't leave our trucks behind, and yes, we can go places it can't - so what? Neat truck.

Regards,
Brian in CA

I've driven both, the H1 and the H2. The dealership I got the Caddy STS I had before the Lexus was also a Hummer dealer, and I just had to drive one of everything. Customer of mine had an H1, and sold it for a F350 Super Duty pickup. The H1 is simply an entirely rediculous vehicle, it has no use whatsoever, it is uncomfortable, rides terrible, is impossible to park and difficult to even drive, but it has got that image, EVERYONE looks at you, it gets more looks than a Ferrari and thats what sells it. Its relatively cheap for the wow factor.

I also liked the H2, its main plus was that it actually has a use. Its a real vehicle that can haul and tow, it can carry plenty of people, PLUS it has much of that same wow image factor. SMART move by GM, and this is coming from a die hard GM lamenter ;)

I don't like the look of the H2 but it is more practical than the H1. On Saturdays at Lowe's (where I work) I'll see three or four H2s parked out in the parking lot, but I see even more F250/350 Super Duty pickups with Diesels every day of the week.

I agree stephen... they are very similar... i think most ppl who like the H1 but not the H2 just have a mind set that it is different. a majority of people dont like what they dont understand, and most ppl dont understand the need for a Big "Luxury" Machine like that... therfore they just flat out dont like it... which I dont like that mindset, but oh well... that is their choice...

ok, back to the new hummer thingy. i think that it doesnt look that bad. if its going to be the same size as an S-10 (or colorado, whatever) then it would be pretty cool to own. it would fit down most of the trails in my area, it has a 2 foot bed, and it holds a bunch of people. if it wasnt a GM id be pretty interested in it. dont like trucks that are covered in plastic? (dont look at out beloved sport tracs then) ;)
