Greetings everyone. How is everything going, well i hope. Anyhow, the purpose behind my thread is to inquire about the price of fenders to go on my 1997 V6 sohc ford XLT Xplorer. Would it be better to by the fenders from a truck company and get someone to paint them or would it be better to get the fenders put on and painted at the ford dealership?

Are you talking about aftermarket fiberglass fenders, or stock replacements?

aj, I would guess either way it would depend on what type of deal you could get through either body shop, since I would figure that your Ford dealer will probably refer you to there collision service center anyway. Have you tried calling some body shops and give them your color/code/year of truck, and ask for estimates? Also, you may want to find out what finish the fenders will have when you recieve them, ie; primer, unfinished, etc.

well there are the normal stock fenders or what alec is talking about with the aftermarked fiberglass fenders are fenders that are flared out to fit larger tires (see pics in the link in my sig.). now im assumming that you want the stock fenders, unless you want to slap on some bigger tires in which case you could use this as an excuse (a very good excuse) to get some flared fiberglass fenders and get soem bigger beefier tires. if you want the fiberglass fenders you can get the set for $150 from www.perrysfabnfiber.com . then youll have to get them painted because they come white (unless you have a white explorer then you could get away with not painting them if you dont mind a little color mismatch. i dont know where you would go to get the stock fenders though, im sorry.
