The rare case of synthetic oil

One more thing I just thought of.. maybe you just got a bad batch of synthetic oil? Someone could have forgotten to but in the antiwear/antifriction package at the plant on the certain lot that you got?? Not say that's definately what happend but it does explain the loss of power you experiencing in your butt.

I’ve worked in several pertroleum production plants. These would all be automated additions, with feedback that the proper level of chemical was batched into the lot, which is probably several thousand gallons of oil.

It also probably gets sampled T the batch level to assure everything happened as expected.

You are just spoiling my sarcasm with your facts! lol
 












But really though, the AW/AF additives and the weight of the oil are what effects hp, not really if it's synthetic or not. If I put IF-WS2 in a conventional oil and compared it with a top shelf synthetic oil with the same weight, I bet the conventional oil would make more hp. What systhetics are good for is long drain intervals and better protection in extreme conditions.
 






Oh and I forgot to mention: I´ve had 4 previous vehicles in the past and had switch to synthetic for engine longevity and didn´t feel nothing different in them. The reason to switch to synthetic on this explore was the same, better protection and longer intervals.

Omg haha the list goes on yea I agree with the conventional and horses..conventional oil is used for a reason....lol some guys see synthetic and declare supiority at all times...not knocking it but conventional is also refined very very well and uses a very good base (mineral oil) synthetic could be garbage all the way up to natural gas based and also has detergents and additives although, you can't run it for as long there's no power loss at all in a short oil change interval. Not all synthetic is equal either their making this stuff out of everything. To be honest I haven't seen any difference but I do 3 month 3000 mile change //// side note gm vehicles have specific fluids like dexos oil...if u run conventional there's hell to pay.
 






For what it's worth, I consider Millers Nano Drive and Amsoil to be the two best oils out there and Archoil and Nanolub the two best additives. I also recommend a magnetic drain plug on everything that holds fluid. Dimple drain plugs are nice. I'd install a pre-oiler if a work truck if I lived in extreme cold most of the year *especially if you had turbos) or had a lot of money tied up into the motor. For an everyday cheap beater vehicle, you can either get your oil changed every month or two with the cheap stuff and waste time and money on the trips or buy the top shelf oil and change it once a year and fuggedaboutit!

Omg blue grease, I worked at Wal-Mart stocking automotive. Everything is re branded oil, grease all fluids. I would buy ANYTHING except motor sludge.
