ok ..
so ive read pretty much every thread on the forum involving lifts. I can accept the no suspension lift .
But what is the TRUE deal with body lifts...anytime they're mentioned..its either shot away bc the frame or its just not to detailed..ive read that they can and cant be done.

my question....
is it feasible to have a body lifted explorer...bc isnt the bl just pucks in between the body and the frame???

i dont see how this ISN"T possible besides the steering extension...but ive also read that other kits can still work?

just please tell me yes or no..and if yes what is needed so i can get on with this

No reason, i've seen 3rd gens with body lifts. You'll just have to make your own bumper lift brackets most likely though.

hah ok thanks thats all i wanted to know...so besides the bumper brackets..is this something i could get somewhere to install?

i.e what kit do i buy since theres technically not one out for the explorer

Explorer and Ranger chasis are the same. Use a Ranger BL kit. Depending on how high you go, you may need to make new bumper brackets or a steering extention.

you wouldnt happen to know how high i can go w/o needing the steering extension would you?

I heard 3", but don't quote me on that. Section525 used to have a BL before his SAS and SOA...you might ask him.

the way the front and rear bumpers are attatched, theres no way to lift them up without cutting off the bottom part... ive taken both off and put back on and that would be the most difficult part by far..the others challenges are steering, radiator moving, and possibly brake line extensions if its needed... it can be done but it would need much work and in my opinion, with this much frame already exposed, a body lift would look like total ****

Doesn't look like **** to me.

If you wanted to hide some of the frame...build a set of sliders (a GREAT mod anyway). That'll hide a couple inches of exposed frame from the side right there.

Here's a shot of the frame and mount locations

Do some searching...there is abit of info out there about it, not fleshed out well from what I found. Yeah, it's abit custom but you can do it. I wouldn't even start to hazard a guess at the cost for a shop to do it...they'd ream you eight ways from sunday.

yeah see this is what im talking about..id wanna know ALL the problems id prob run into..

but i think i can cover the bumper problem....

but yeah i was thinking the same ab it looking like ****...

but then i saw this and it didnt look too bad

yea its not "too" bad but people still say they have to cover "a couple of inches" of frame... covering it still leaves the droopage and thus shows the frame shame... i would be more content if there were suspension mods and maybe itll happen in the future, but im leaving the body alone cuz i already hate how much frame shows... maybe cuz my ex is gold and makes the black more distinct? im not sure but body lifts are not for me anyway... makes simple frame bolt-on mods nearly impossible without welding fabrication... seems liek too much trouble for no increased ground clearance unless u **** out more money for larger tires

on that one, they may have completely removed the tow package off the rear, which would leave it simply bolting to the body.. and for the front htey may have cut the two bottom mounts off to where its only connected at each corner.. unless they made new mounts, seems like itd be awfully flimsy... sorry if my comments are biased because im pretty anti-bodylift haha... theyre just too impractical for me... for hardcore trail riders they make some sense, but in all respects, its best to leave the body and frame where they are, cuz it can lead to further problems like cooling issues if ur radiator isnt properly mounted

ok so i have a plac that will install it for me but only if i can get a steering extention for my year truck..bc they have a policy ab not being able to modify parts in a kit..but they CAN swap out parts..so if i can find the steering extension theyll do it for me...

so my question is would anyone know exactly how long of an extention id need for a 3" lift so i can get one??and also where would i get one?

The red explorer in the pictures above looks bad ass. How do i do that ot my truck?
