after i got my 93 back from gettin a motor installed i noticed that where was gear oil all over the driver side axle tube and flung agaisnt the gas tank. I felt the breather hose and it was all gunked up so i assumed that diff fluid just pushed out from the cover. replaced the hose, drained the fluid, new gasket, new fluid and everything seemed fine for a few days. drove it over a friends house and smelled gear oil again, next morning, sure enough, the drivers side axle tube, shock, and the back of the fuel tank are covered. pulled the drivers side drum, everything is dry. yolk is dry so i dont think its a pinion seal. just an area between the leaf spring perch and the diff housing itself which makes me think it might be the weld on the axle tube to the diff housing? wont know much more till i cant find a day to get it on a lift and take a closer look. assuming it is the weld on the axle tube i was thinking about cheapin out and just cleaning it up real well and using an epoxy like jbweld or having it re welded. if i had extra money id just get a rear diff with disc brakes from a salvage yard. anyone else ever have this happen to them? any input is appreciated.
