The Unstealable Truck

I don't agree much with you Ru Dawg.
Car thefts take place when a theft wants to steal it, I really doubt they stake out places night after night because most crimes here happen downtown and most cars don't go there night after night. They just find the car and hang out for a tad and then take it.

I'm going to first register with the Cops and get the chip placed in my car. But I want to do the fuel switch but don't know were to get these parts or how to do it. Anyone know a link to a How To?

PS. Texas allows a lot of stuff, we even have the best death pentalty, yet our crime is still ass high. Go figure.

Keith, I think you are correct in most cases, especially in larger cities and for amatuers and/or normal car theives. But here is my point..I'm talking experts here..If an expert theif (again, just my opinion/thoughts) sees a well modified vehicle, such as one of your Explorers(I say "your" because mine is not well modified..YET!!!), he/she will probably assume you are protected somehow, or may even know it's protected with more than an alarm. So, I think he/she would take some time to try to figure out what ya got! So I guess my point really is that don't make it obvious that you have a fuel shut off switch or something like that, because a good theif will be looking for it! Another tip is add a little variety to your routine once in a while, don't go the same stores all the time, drive home a different way once in a while, don't set any patterns for them dirty crooks!

I would hate to be the guy in my truck when I walked out and found him trying to find the switch.
That wouldn't be a pretty sight.
Finally get to see how much my bumper can drag.

that's another good point Keith, if you hide your stuff good, the jerk is likely to get anxious to find it, ya know, more of a challenge, that way it takes him/her more time and therefore a better chance of catching the fool and show him/her a "SERIOUS EXPLORATION"!!!

I can picture it now.
"X-Explorers"
On a lonley stretch of highway in the middle of the desert my truck is sitting all by itself. Mind you this is mid-afternoon.
Some guy wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, black boots, black shirt and pants, etc. breaks into my car and is frantically searching for the fuel switch. Out of no where 20+ lifted Explorers show up from the sand dunes on the sides of him.
Each Explorer with there own super power.
Of course we know Matt's is his frying lights.
Anyone elses have a super power?

Made for TV movie right there, I better call FOX.

1. Of course I have super powers (they are just too numerous to list).

2. Cement some u-bolts into your driveway One in front and behind each tire and two inbetween. Lock some snow chains around all of the tires and lock a chain through the two in the middle and you frame. Make sure to use a very heavy chain so that they can't just bring in some bolt cutters.
That should at least slow them down.

Folks the idea behind all these deteriants to theft is just to help keep honest people honest and to slow down the would be theifs so that hopefully someone catches them. There is no such thing as something that is totaly unstealable.

Superpowers?

Superpowers? Can I be "Vegas - the new lightman" or something? LOL

I can't decide.
I'm either going to be Aqua Stocky or Rock Scraper.
Hummm decisions decisions.

VEGAS SUPER HERO!

Ya Matt, you can just burn them alive.....

This me reminds of a good short comic I saw once. Some rich guy in an up-class neighboor kept getting his car stolen. Finally, he had enough and after he bought is newest car, a top of the line BMW, he invested in the best security systems money could buy. We're talking anchors w/chains&locks to the garage floor, laser motion sensors, all the shut off swithces, the loudest audible alarms, THE WORKS!!!. Well, one night he parks his car in the garage and enables all the alarms and locks. He goes to sleep that night and sleeps like a baby, 'cause he knows NO ONE can get his ride! He wakes up in the morning for work and goes out to the garage only to find that the car is indeed still in the garage, except it's now facing the other way, with all the alarms/locks still activated/engaged...Could you imagine the look on his face when he read a note on the windshield that read "IF WE WANT IT, WE'LL TAKE IT!!!"?

Unstealable truck...........

Put some of those big, ugly ass Honda stickers ("H", "Mugen", "Honda Power") all over the windshield and rear glass of the truck. Then before exiting the vehicle, lower the seats and put the seat backing all the way down (like the cool kids).

When the theif takes one look at your truck, he'll be like W/T/F? Needless to say, your truck will be there in the morning.

Just get one of those removeable steering wheels. Can't steal what you can't drive.

Hmm as far as a super power, I can be the White Knight with a super high speed reverse gear and a killer ram hitch!

Besides an alarm, I use the old "Chain & Lock" to secure my hood. That way nobody can access the engine compartment if the alarm goes off. What I did was weld two chains to the underside of the hood. Then I welded one chain link to the left and right front body bushing brackets, making sure there was clearance so I could attach a lock to it. On my 92 Explorer I have to holes about 1.5 inches beside the hood adjustable bumpers, that's where I run the chains through and secure them with locks at the links I welded. My hood closes with no problem. Note: When welding the chains in place you have to make sure they are alligned with these holes. Now I don't know if this will work for the 95's and newer Explorers but it works great on mine. No pictures to show! Sorry.

Steering Wheel Taser

I actually have a friend who has this product. ITs called the Auto-Taser.

This thing mounts onto ur steering wheel just like a club. Only difference is there is an electric current running through the whole thing. When activated you can actually see the current passing all along the rod! Its activated by a remote.

PErsonally I wouldnt use this cause I would probably end up shocking the hell out of myself a few times. But hey give it a try, i could tell i sure as hell wouldnt get near it!

Here is a website I found on google that has info on ithttp://www.womanmotorist.com/newproducts/jbh-auto-taser.shtml

I've got a couple ideas...

How about installing an 8-track player in the dash... should help eliminate break-ins, plus you can pull out all those classic John Denver tunes from the attic. Another idea is to install a kill switch behind the ash tray... I knew a guy that had one in an older pickup truck... (I know this won't work for the 95+ but it's an idea) You had to close the ash tray to close the switch and start the vehicle. I believe it was wired to the ignition coil. (again, no coil to deactivate on most 95+) Anyhow, like some of you said, if a thief wants your car, he's going to get it. I work with a guy that had LoJack on his car and it still disappeared... The problem with LoJack is that it doesn't get activated until it's already been stolen. It could be gone for 6 hrs and already in pieces before you even know it's gone! I work with a guy that had his new truck stolen right out of his driveway 2 weeks after he got it. It happened on a Friday night, and by the time he realized it Sat morning, it had already been chopped up and left out on a street in Southwest Detroit. He didn't even have time to call LoJack to have it activated before they stripped it. All that was left was the cab and frame. If they waht it, they'll get it, and nothing will stop them.
