My buddy is gonna lend me his Zaino stuff to try.

Your $100 estimate is a bit high. What you need from Zaino is Z1, Z2, and Z6 for a total of $31.85. http://www.zainobros.com/files/order.htm

You are gonna love it. It is easier to apply than anything you ever used and lasts longer in the Florida sun..

Good luck.

Thanks for the link Al Dive -

I have heard rave reviews about Zanio from others as well - $32 is not too bad. When I get it / shine my truck I'll post a pic.

I have been using the cheap consumer grade Zymol from Target - $12 per bottle goes on easy and hides all the scratch / swirl marks (sweeping the snow off your car here in winter is hell on the clear coat) in my navy blue 96. It works good and smells good too (no I am not sniffing it) I don't feel it lasts all that long - I rewax every 3 months or so when I start to see the swirlies coming back.

Anyone have any rust fighting words of wisdom? I see a lot of old (1st gen Xs running around Wisconsin) with no little rust on them and some with a bit below the doors. I try to wash often in winter (again weather permitting) and keep the salt off the bottom and wax often. Anything anyone else does to keep the rust away?

BTW - I have a bug deflector as well (my parents live on a lake - it saves me from scrubbing bugs for an hour every time I see them in season) and the Zymol makes it look like new - takes all of the cloudiness out of it.

Sorry for the rambling post - I am in Japan on a Business trip - it is 4 am here - I cannot get adjusted to the local time....

I'va always used Zaino myself, but I recently talked to someone who switched to Klasse, likes it better and finds it easier to apply. I'm gonna give it a try.

i have seen some pictures of cars that have been done with Zaino, the stuff works wonders, have you ever seen a black car with zaino? WOW! ive been looking for the picture, as soon as i find it ill post it up

here's a black car, not the one ive been looking for but you get the idea, it was taken off the zaino website

showroom condition, not a cent less :)

Zaino is great because you can add so many coats. I've heard from pros that if you put less than 5-6 coats on your car you're really wasting the Zaino and not seeing the full effect. Hell, I usually do 2 and I like it just fine! With a carnuaba wax after two coats you're just wiping it off, its not doing anything. Klasse (and I assume Liquid Glass) are in the same class of protectants they're polymers. According to thin guy I talked to, Klasse is easier to put on if the weather is less than perfect (Zaino is very weather oriented) so in the winter you could use it (forget about Zaino if its less than 70 degrees and the humidity is more than 60% it will never dry).

Its a big debate over whats better, ordinary wax or polymers. Actually it gets quite heated usually lol. People say Polymers make paint plasticky and surface shiny, while wax makes the color look deeper.

ok this thread popped a question into my head....
i havent yet had the chance to wax my truck since i got it in november, but when i used to wax my cougar, i used the small tin can of meguiars(red color tin) the stuff went on easy but sometimes it was a B#&@ to take off, how does everyone here take wax off? what type of clothes and such?

When I remove wax I just wash the truck with Dawn dishwashing detergent and scrub it in good. Strips all the wax off the paint.

I think he means how do you buff it off.

With a carnuaba wax like Meguiars you want it to be hard to take off, that means its durable. I always use Microfiber towels, they work the best. They remove all the wax residue and never scratch. They sell them just about anywhere.

ok cool, ill have to get me some of those, i thought they were only for polishes

I use simple cotton towells to remove Zaino. Removal is almost as easy as application.

I find the Zaino process so easy that application of many coats is just standard procedure

My truck is metallic chestnut and the finish looks to be a foot deep.

I use Zaino year around in Florida where the humidity is rarely 60% and is usually over 80% in summer and the drying time is always very fast. To quote Zaino>>Please NOTE: Zaino Show Car Polish works best at 60 degrees or higher. However, it can be applied down to temperatures of 45 degrees. It just will take much, much longer to dry>>

The stuff is simply amazing. Its the perfect product for a lazy person to shin their car/truck with.

And much much longer to dry is just that lol, MUCH much longer to dry. So much that its not worth even doing. Supposedly Klasse doesn't have this drawback. This guy lives in NH and Klasses his cars year round. We'll have to see.

I used to use cotton towels, but once I switched to microfiber I'll never go back. One wipe and whatever it is is gone, they work great on windows too, anything really and they attract dust like magnets. I ordered them from some guy in Hawaii, I'll see what I can find.

Funny thing it seems to me, who wants to polish a car/truck in temps below 70 F anyway. Heck, I am in full winter garb at those temps ( like today in the min 60;s ).

I am very interested in the microfibed stuff, never used it and would love to give it a go.

Magicfan25; If you're ever up in my neighborhood please stop bye. I'll have the wax and premium rags ready for you. If you do as good a job on my X as you did on yours I'll buy the beer.

Good work on your X Magicfan!!!

I guess I just have to be the devil here. Hehehehehe...I'm a Klasse fan. I love that stuff!! It's only a 2 wax system--All In One and Sealant Gloss. All you have to do is to layer AIO first. Once is enough b/c it's a very mild cleanser. After AIO, I finish the job by laying SG then a few days later, wash my car then layer another coat of SG. My magic number is 3 times. It gives the best shine after the 3rd coat. Here're a couple of pics after the Klasse treatment back in the summer of '02:

I love the shine in this pic.

I'm not gonna wax my rig until spring. I was gonna do it this winter break but since a tree fell on my hood and I just got my rig back a few days ago. They recommanded not to do anything to the new paint so that's why I'm gonna put it off until spring.

Damn thats a shiny hood!

Can you get the Klasse stuff anywhere?

Geez, I was getting all excited, but the humidity has only been less than 60% here twice in my lifetime!
