Theft system problem?

Got a '99 sport. i've had the problem in the past where randomly the truck would start and run for a second or two and then shut off, after that it wouldn't start at all, though it would crank. While it was doing that the "theft" light would flash. In the past all i had to do was unhook the battery and let it sit for a couple minutes and come back, hook it up, and all would be well. It happened this afternoon and the old fix isn't working.

Anybody have a clue why my retarded truck thinks it's being stolen?

is the theft light blinking really fast? If so, I can tell you a few things from experience. Try using the other key, if you've got one. If the same thing happens, then you have a problem with the PATS module. I had the same thing happen to mine. It would crank, but it wouldn't turn over, didn't even try, and the theft light would blink really fast. I had to take it in and Ford replaced the PATS module, it cost like 300 bucks.
