Thermastat reads wrong temperature and direction

Hi I have an 02 Explorer XLT that the inside temperature gage and compass does not read right. It is June and it says the temperature is -40 which i know is not right. I need to know how to fix this and where it is located. Thanks so much.

Check the owners manual.
For sure there is a calibration for the compass.
I dont think there is one for the temperature. Sounds more like the temp sensor to me.. is it always on -40°?

Make sure you're using correct terminology....you are referring to a thermometer, not a thermostat....two completely different things. If you walk into an auto repair shop and tell them to change your thermostat...trust me, you won't achieve what you are wanting!

Thanks the calibration worked. Now i need to know where the outside temperature sensor is and where i can get a replacement part for it.
