Just completed replacing the thermostat housing on my Sport Trac 4.0l sohc, took about 4 hrs.

Just did mine a few weeks ago on my 05. Not to bad, I used all motorcraft parts.
 












think the O.P. mentions his engine has an aluminum T.Housing
