I thought my water pump failed the other day, as coolant was running from that area. After disassembly to install a new water pump, I determined the pump was fine, but the small hose from the water pump to the thermostat housing had been leaking. (I went ahead and replaced the pump since I had it out).

I also discovered my radiator had a small leak, so replaced it as well.

Question--does the upper radiator hose "fill" with coolant? Mine only seems to get a small flow from the thermostat housing to the radiator. I'm wondering if my thermostat is only opening part way.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

My thought is if you replaced the water pump and radiator, why not the few extra bucks for the thermostat, since its both cheap and easy to replace.

I probably will change the thermostat, but really was more interested to know if the hose should fill. Since the thermostat is readily accessible from the top, I didn't worry about it immediately. Thanks!
