I have a 94 xlt and I just replaced my thermostat which was locked open and I bought another that was 192 degrees and it barely let my explorer warm up past the first cold line I thought it might be my guage so I drove it around for about 20 minutes and right when I stoped I poped the hood and took off the radiator cap and the fluid was barely warm. So I thought it was just a bad thermostat so I went to napa and got a 198 degree thermostat and this one gets me to just barely below the N which is still below a quarter. The guys at NAPA said that the explorer calls for a 195 degree thermostat, So i have no idea what the problem is so if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.
