I think I cut the wrong yellow wire! Here is what I did, I was trying to go from 4auto 4hi 4lo to 2, 4auto, 4hi and 4lo in a 2000 Explorer 4x4 Auto, 4.0 SOHC. Behind the stereo, I cut the solid yellow wire that looked to be going into a huge Wire harness connector and spliced in a switch, uncertain of the results (since I coun't do the 2lo trick) I went off road with the switch off. Got in just a little mud, put it to the floor and the front end spun (the auto obviously kicked in) I don't really want to pull the carpet up to get to the brown one but I will if I have to. Could I see (or have sent to me) andrew@honnoll.comjohn.honnoll@autozone.com a pic of this infamous yellow wire? Is it the one with the red or brown strip in it?
Don't know which yellow wire you cut.. There are so many yellow colored wires behind the radio that its difficult without a picture. Pulling the brown wire under the seat isn't hard. Just remove the trim and then you can pull a bit of the carpet up and see the wire in the bundle.. The wire actually runs along the door seam edge.
i would go for for the wire under the seat, i tried to use the wire behind the das but it is a real PITA to get right and secure...just my 2 cents
